VIMOS e NIRMOS sono i progetti di due strumenti per VLT.
VIMOS (VIsual Multi Objects Spectrograph) è installato all'unità 3 del VLT (Melipal). E' uno strumento la cui complessità è difficilmente descrivibile dalle foto. NIRMOS (Near InfraRed Multii Object Spectrograph) è arrivato fino alla discussione tecnica con ESO dove ho potuto mostrare gli aspetti progettuali delo strumento ed in praticolare la sezione termica che rappresenta l'aspetto più complesso di NIRMOS, date le sue dimensioni e la sua complessità.

- Project manager for the PDR and FDR phases
- Instrument responsible and manager (Mechanics, Optomechanics and Control System)
- Co-investigator in the VIRMOS consortium
- Instrument ideation, detailed integrated design and development in Naples
- Integrator and Manager of Integration of the instrument at OHP
- Integration and Manager of Integration of the instrument at Paranal
- Management of test and of final acceptance in France (OHP) and at Paranal (VLT - UT#3)
NIRMOS (Near Infrared Multi Object Spectrograph)
- Instrument responsible and manager (Mechanics, Optomechanics and Controls) for the Preliminary Design
- Co-investigator
- Instrument ideation and integrated design vs cooling
- Cooling system design and prototyping (frigo cycle and peltier systems comparison down to -42°C)
